The IBM Integrated Reference Model takes advantage of the Federal Enterprise Architecture reference models for Performance, Business, Services, Technology, Data and Investments.
The first diagram shows the linkage and relationships of each of the reference models to each other.
The second diagram focuses on your Business' investment domain, or the perspective on how your Business will spend its resources.
The general idea is that your Business must identify its target investment and be able to link it to each of the elements of the other reference models. This is done first to help explain and situate the investment across your Business as an enterprise. It also helps your Business to identify each of the linking elements, which can highlight areas of duplication or clearly areas of opportunity.
