There is nothing wrong with seeking perfection but I also agree that the latitude of testing failure broadens your horizons and actually exposes you to a higher degree of learning.
I wouldn't promote the seeking of Cs as the academic target for my children but if their is strong effort and a desire to learn from multiple facets then perhaps the grading system isn't the true measure of learning.
